How zero turn mowers compare with ride-on mowers for large blocks, and where each works best.
What is a zero turn mower?
A zero turn mower steers with two levers and can pivot on the spot. That lets it cut close around trees, garden beds and fences without leaving missed strips.
Why it suits acreage
Commercial zero turn mowers have wide cutting decks and travel faster than a typical ride-on lawn tractor, so large areas are cut in less time.
Where it isn't the best choice
Zero turn mowers are less stable on very steep slopes, so we use other methods, such as trimmers, on the steepest sections. Tight garden areas are finished by hand.
Which should you choose?
If you own the machine, the right one depends on your block. If you'd rather not buy or maintain one, hiring us gives you a commercial machine and a tidy finish without the upkeep.
